Local rank tracking by city, country and language
How to choose the right market settings before checking keyword positions.
Start with the searcher
A ranking report should describe the searcher you care about. Country, language and city all influence that view. A national ecommerce query may not need a city. A plumber, dentist or local agency usually does.
If the business serves several cities, run separate checks. Combining cities into one average can hide useful local differences.
Use language deliberately
Search language can influence the results returned. For multilingual markets, run separate checks for the languages that matter commercially.
Do not assume that English results in a market are the same as local-language results in that same market.
Keep reports comparable
Use the same market settings when comparing months, competitors or devices. If you change the city or language, treat it as a new measurement context.
